Readme

Stronghold is a unique cross between city builders such as Caesar III or Sim City and a RTS in the tradition of Command & Conquer and Age of Empires. Set in medieval Europe, you'll establish settlements, build and manage castles and engage in siege warfare. The game incorporates much more building and "community managing" than a traditional RTS, yet allows for a more intense combat experience than city builders have featured in the past.

An online-playable demo of the PC title.

Stronghold combines city building and community management with intense real-time strategy (RTS) combat. Set in the Dark Ages, Stronghold players establish settlements, and construct and manage castles while engaging in siege warfare. Over 30 types of walls, towers and anti-siege equipment, 50 different structures, and a legion of troop classes are available for creating significant citadel and village detail. The game's simulation element offers players the opportunity to design and run a castle and fortress complete with lords, court jesters, village peasants and town drunkards. Decisions, such as the types of materials produced by various tradesmen throughout the village, and the class of army troops that will be trained and assembled, are all determined by how players build their castles.

From Gathering: Stronghold is a combination of a building simulation and a real-time strategy. Build and conquer castles, populate lands with your peasants and defend your country from invaders. The game has two principal modes, simulation and invasion. In simulation, you just build castles and villages, without troubling yourself with wars. In invasion mode, you have to use tactical combat to defeat your enemies. Your opponents are Duc de Puce, Duc de Beauregard, Duc Truffe and Duc Volpe, also called the rat , the snake , the pig and the wolf , respectively. They all have different personalities and styles of combat--of all of them the wolf is the most difficult to defeat. Play two missions from the full game with four difficulty settings in the demo version.
